In February 2008, the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) produced a study from the Select Committee on Electric Generation Capacity and Environmental Effects that stated Texas may need as much as 75,000 Megawatts of new generation capacity by 2026 to meet the projected economic growth. With the cost of alternative sources of electric generation in Texas reaching record highs, constructing the White Stallion Energy Center will help keep electric bills from skyrocketing as well as provide much needed electric generating capacity for future economic growth in Texas.
